Assessing the Competition

You would not believe the things you can learn about competitors through open-source public data and a little creative analysis.

We once were able to analyze a company of 3k employees, placing every one of them in a specific department, and thus getting an idea of how much their indirect labor costs were.

How did we do it? We read their newsletter! Every month, they published the five-year anniversary of employees, along with the department they worked. We put five years worth of anniversaries into a spread sheet and were able to map them out!
